World Environment Day 2018

World Environment Day 2018

June 5, is celebrated as World Environment Day worldwide. In 2018, India was the global host of World Environment Day. This year’s theme is ‘Beat Plastic Pollution- If you can’t reuse it, refuse it’.

GreenLine celebrated World Environment Day 2018 in Mumbai. We conducted a public awareness campaign at 6 prime locations of Mumbai i.e. Churchgate, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Ghatkopar, Andheri and Borivali railway stations. GreenLine staff along with 32 college volunteers had spread across these 6 locations from 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM IST.

In this awareness campaign, volunteers were holding a banner which says “Say NO to Plastic Pollution” to attract people’s attention. Volunteers and staff were also holding various placards in English and Hindi language. They were asking people to take a pledge to give up on atleast one single-use plastic product and to opt for the alternative. Public was encouraged to take a photo with a placard of an item they choose to opt and asking them to upload the same on social media thus increasing awareness.
