Initiatives by Sacred Heart High School & Jr. College, Vashi

  • Sacred Heart High School & Jr. College, Vashi kick started their Eco Club activities in the month of June with the celebration of Van Mahotsav Day by means of displaying posters on their notice board. This was followed sale of Areca Palm saplings to parents and online.

  • In order to promote use of cloth bags, the students hand painted eco-friendly messages on cloth bags and sold them to parents and visitors alongside the Areca Palm saplings. These bags were also ordered online by many interested citizens.

  • The students conducted a Class Assembly on the importance of Trees. Posters were made, skits enacted, and slogans were sung, helping the students understand better how and why trees need to be preserved.

  • Sacred Heart celebrated ‘Nature Conservation Week’ by creating beautiful planters by upcycling ice cream tubs. These tubs were beautifully decorated using jute rope and wool strings. Plants such as Snake Plant and Pothos were planted and tagged in these planters and used as ‘Green Gifts’ for judges and guests. The GreenLine team was also greeted in the session using these planters.

  • The primary section of the school brought some beautiful flowering and medicinal plants to the campus making it not only greener and more health-wise beneficial but also attracting butterflies.

  • The students made eco-friendly Rakhi’s using paper, seeds, etc to celebrate Raksha Bandhan.

  • SHHS also celebrated Global Tiger Day in the school and created awareness among the students to Save Tiger through the medium of handmade tiger bookmarks and masks made from face shields give at airports.

  • National Marine Week was celebrated by the school by cleaning and maintaining the Amphibian Garden of the school which was established during the ‘Fauna Watch’ Campaign. This cleaning and maintenance were all done by the students using the harvested rain water in the school.
